SuperSport United have been one of the most consistent teams in the 2016/2017 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.
Stuart Baxter’s men find themselves in title contention as they currently occupy third place on the table.
Matsatsantsa are set to do battle against Free State Stars tonight and SuperSport defender Morgan Gould believes his side have what it takes to challenge for PSL honours.
The veteran anticipates that United’s title charge will go down to the wire despite having quality teams around them.
The 33-year-old has also stated that his team have the quality and team spirit to win the league title.
"We want it to go to the wire. It's been exciting times in South Africa. You can say what you want, that the level has dropped, but I don't think so. The level has lifted and, look at Sundowns, they went on to win the CAF Champions League," Gould told The Sowetan.
"I think we have the players capable of working for one another. At SuperSport our motto is that we all stand together as a team and just push each other," he added.
SuperSport have a challenging schedule ahead having just returned from continental duties in Madagascar and Gould emphasised the need to be smart as team if they are to compete on all fronts.
"We will need to work as a team and work smart to win the league,” Gould said.
" If you look at the current champions [Sundowns], they are picking up points and are getting back to the swing of things," he indicated.
"So we've got a hard road ahead of us," Gould concluded.
