Boxing: Conor McGregor vows to knock Floyd Mayweather's head clean off

Conor McGregor maintains he is pursuing a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr and says he would knock the undefeated boxing great's head clean off.

Both UFC lightweight champion McGregor and Mayweather have previously talked up the possibility of a meeting in the ring.

There have been reports this week that an agreement has finally been reached between the two parties, but Mayweather has since insisted he remains retired.

McGregor, though, is keen for the fight to take place. And, despite losing to Nate Diaz in his first UFC fight at welterweight before winning on points in the rematch, the Irishman is confident he can defeat a boxer who dominated that division and went 49-0 in a glittering career.

"I'm pursuing that [fight] and no one can stop me from pursuing that," McGregor told GQ.

"He's got a little head on him. Honestly, my fist is bigger than his head.

"I sleep people. I put people unconscious. I'm stating facts. If I hit that man, his head is gonna go into the bleachers. You understand that? If I crack that little head of his, it's gonna go clean off his shoulders and up into the bleachers."
