'Manchester City can bid for Messi but it won't do them any good' - Rosell

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell insists that Manchester City would not get far if they tried to buy stars like Lionel Messi from Camp Nou.

The Premier League champions issued a statement on Wednesday denying reported interest in Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas but the Blaugrana supremo accused them of underhanded behaviour.

"They're trying to undermine us," Rosell claimed to Marca.

"Manchester City can make an offer for Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Leo Messi or Victor Valdes but it won't do them any good.

"The players are happy here - they know they're at the best team in the world."

The Barca president had also declared that City "are doing to first-teams what Arsenal have been doing at academies; calling players and offering them lots of money" as he slammed Roberto Mancini's side.
