Adrian Mutu could be the latest Italian-based player to defect to Ligue 1 after Ajaccio expressed an interest in acquiring the forward, according to L'Equipe.
The 33-year-old is expected to leave Cesena this summer following their relegation to Serie B, and originally had his heart set on a return to Romania with Steaua Bucharest.
However, another club has entered the reckoning in the form of Ajaccio, who are ready to open talks with the former Fiorentina and Chelsea ace.
The publication claims that Mutu would be prepared to negotiate with the Corsican outfit, as they look to add more firepower to their squad.
The likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marco Verratti, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva have already left Serie A to ply their trade in the French top flight this summer.
