Going into Sunday's north London derby, Spurs fans were feeling confident with their club signing players left and right to compensate for Gareth Bale's now official move to Real Madrid and Arsenal fans were literally crying and screaming for their club to make use of their own sizable cash reserves. But the funny thing about football is that within the context of a single match, expectations can made to look silly and Arsenal proved that by beating Spurs 1-0 at the Emirates.
After the match, Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny — who has had his own Spurs related expectations come back to bite him in the past — uploaded a special video to his Facebook page. In it, he is seen playing an instrumental version of Arsenal chant "We won the league at White Hart Lane" on his new piano before ending with a big grin and a fist pump.
But as Szczesny knows, it's a long season and we're only a few weeks in. So the last laugh is still left to be had.
