Beyonce planning documentary on her life, career

Get ready to see Beyonce coming to a theater near you. (Kevin Mazur/WireImage)Beyonce is a pretty private person. The public has never seen her and Jay-Z's wedding photos, and she went as far as renting out an entire floor when she gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy in January, but she's about to give her fans a backstage pass to her life with a new documentary. According to the L.A. Times, the "Love on Top" singer is prepping a concert film a la Katy Perry's "Part of Me" and Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never," which she will also direct and produce. A source tells the newspaper that it will be a mix of music and confessional interviews and that a 20-minute clip has already been shown to potential distributors.

There's certainly enough material for Beyonce to fill two hours. In addition to her successful professional life (she released her latest album 4 last June and toured behind it), she's had personal ups and downs: Last March she fired her manager-father Matthew Knowles, who had a baby with his mistress while married to her mother, Tina, after it was discovered he had taken money from her most-recent tour. But then five months later she revealed her baby joy on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards. After giving birth to little Blue Ivy in January, Beyonce returned to the stage in May with a four-show run in Atlantic City. And if that wasn't enough, she's already working on her fifth album.

But will people watch a Bey-focused movie? Although Bieber's concert film grossed a whopping $98 million following its February 2011 release, Perry's "Part of Me" had a disappointing performance with just $24 million, despite cameos from Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Bieber, and Adele.
