Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard bid an emotional goodbye to his boyhood club and fans at his final game in Anfield over the weekend.

And the tributes have been pouring in non-stop from former coaches and other past and present footballers who played alongside him.

But it is his latest holiday fashion campaign with British Airways that has been garnering embarrassing attention.

Ahead of the summer travel season, the former England captain, 34, and his model wife, Alex, posed for a series of advertisements at London’s Heathrow Airport to promote the airways’ flights to the Caribbean.

And it has already been branded ‘cringe-worthy’ by fans, who compared it to a similar ad campaign by the National Lottery featuring Ashley Cole and his then girlfriend, Cheryl Cole, back in 2006.

The images show Gerrard and Alex wearing summer gear and posing with suitcases on the tarmac.

In another photo, the couple sat on beach towels laid on the turbine of the plane, surrounded by fake tropical palm

The wife of Man United and England star, Wayne Rooney, has admitted that “times have been tough” in the past as they maintain a family life in the spotlight.

Although their relationship was rocked by cheating allegations and sex scandals in the past, Coleen Rooney, 29, has devotedly stood by her husband.

In 2004, Rooney captured visiting a backstreet brothel and was famously forced to reconcile with his fiancee over allegations that he had been with a prostitute while she was pregnant with their first child in 2010.

The player later made a public apology, although the damage had already been done and pictures of the incident were splashed all over the news.

However, Coleen has said that she now puts the incident behind them and is grateful for the lessons learnt.

“There is no secret. We’ve had our ups and downs and it’s been tough at times but we’ve had so many happy ones too. It’s just about being as strong individually as we are together and that’s all that can happen in a

Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling, 20, has prompted new concerns over his future at the club after photos emerged of him holding a shisha pipe next to his teammate, Jordan Ibe.

Sterling, who is considering his future at the Reds, has been embroiled in a contract stand-off with the club.

However, most football insiders feel that Sterling’s ‘recreational activities’ will not affect his future at the club.

“I don’t think this incident should affect Raheem’s existing contract at all,” said John Viola, a renowned Premiership agent.

“Raheem is a quality player and an all-rounder which is the most important thing to remember. The club will fight to keep him at the end of the season.”

The 19-year-old Ibe is also considered one of the brightest young stars to emerge at the club as they battle to stay among the Barclays Premier League pacesetters.

The controversial pictures were believed to have been taken in a London bar earlier this season, showing the young stars enjoying their day off

  • Life of a football agent part 1: Of football crooks and scam artists

After Raheem Sterling’s recent contract controversy at Liverpool, the spotlight is on the influence of agents over their players. Ash Hashim, A FIFA Players’ Agent who writes for the Futbolita blog shares her experience in this world.

These are the “money guys”, as they are called, “the big guns of the business” – admired, revered and most of all, more powerful than the football superstars they represent.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s “super agent”, Jorge Mendes, has been credited for his meteoric rise to success at Man United and now, Real Madrid

Similarly, Cesc Fabregas’ faith in his agent Darren Dein saw him masterminding a move from Arsenal to Barcelona.

In reality, although the perks of being a football agent can be highly rewarding, it is not an industry for the gullible or faint of heart.

I chose to go down this path because I wanted to do more for football. I took the agent exams after years of profiling the football industry as a sports journalist, despite knowing that there was

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, 25, enjoyed a vacation in Portugal recently and posted a photo at the dinner table with his family and friends.

Rojo went away during his club’s week off and shared a private jet with teammate Angel di Maria as their families headed for a short break after United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

This comes three days after an alleged affair with a fitness instructor was exposed, with the woman claiming she was blackmailed.

The fitness instructor and her friends were drinking cocktails in bar in Manchester when they were approached by a bouncer and invited to join Man United’s private Christmas party upstairs.

The venue was packed with pretty young girls who were hand-picked by minders and told to leave their mobile phones in a bucket to prevent them from taking any embarrassing pictures.

Sarah Watson, 34, the woman at the centre of the blackmail claims said Rojo offered her money to spend the night with him after the party, which she

  • imageRooney performs boxing celebration after goal against Tottenham

Wayne Rooney’s goal celebration in Man United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last night went viral after the striker amused fans with a flurry of fake punches and fell on his back.

It was a stab at a video last month which showed Rooney boxing with Stoke defender Phil Bardsley in an impromptu sparring session in his kitchen.

The striker, 29, was said to be unhappy that the private video of him had gone rival, especially as it depicted him landing flat on his back, seemingly unconscious.

“That’s the world we live in today. It was a few mates in a private house which has somehow managed to get on the front page of a national newspaper. I have to accept that. It was me and a few friends joking around,” Rooney said.

Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge took advantage of his day off on Monday by partying at a club in central London.

And the England international was joined by a few of his friends in the music world, including a member of British boyband One Direction.

After posting the picture with Louis Tomlinson, Sturridge was teased by fans of the Reds, who warned him he had lost “serious street credibility” by hanging out with a member of the pop band.

The striker, 25, is one of the more colourful figures in Brendan Rodgers’ team, and is a big fan of hip-hop music.

So Sturridge’s decision to hang out at the swanky Libertine club, a hotspot for celebrities and footballers in England, with a ‘One Directioner’ prompted jeers from fans.

The player was letting his hair down following a 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, which sets them up for a replay on 8 April.

Tomlinson, who had a brief spell with Doncaster Rovers as a player, also attempted to buy over the club
