An Israeli player has submitted a classic entry for the unofficial miss of the century competition after somehow failing to score with the goal gaping at his mercy in a third division match.
Moshe Biton, a striker who plays for Maccabi Yaffo in the southern section of Israel's Liga Alef, appeared to have done the hard work after out-jumping the Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem goalkeeper to latch onto a long punt upfield.
With the keeper then entirely taken out of the picture by a stumbling team-mate, 29-year-old Biton was left all alone and with the simple task of slotting into an empty net.
But somehow the former Israeli international, who won four caps for his country, managed to shank his shot wide of the target.
The unfortunate Biton was left to rue his profligacy as the team from Jerusalem went on to win the match 2-1. But perhaps even worse for the striker is that his miss has quickly become an internet sensation.
