A S$50,000 and S$30,000 fine respectively for the bottom two teams of the S-League.
That's the latest proposal from the S-League to boost crowd attendance from next year. The hope is that it will inject excitement and give the 13 participating teams a strong motivation to perform better.
"We hope these - stiff penalties, not just a slap on the wrist - will inspire clubs to do well," S.League CEO Lim Chin told TODAY.
"'Competitive' and 'interesting' were the two key words for us in deciding on the initiatives for the league next year and, while the S.League is not ready for a promotion-relegation system, we want every team to give their best," he added, explaining the unusual tough-love approach.
Do you agree with the latest proposal of fining the league's two bottom teams?
