David Beckham reduced a fan to tears after he arranged a surprise meeting.
The British soccer star visited Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, London, near the Olympic Park. A series of people were queuing to have their photo taken as part of the Take the Stage campaign organised by Adidas. As Christian Lewis and his mother stepped in front of the camera, David sprang out from behind the scenes and asked to join them. The young boy burst into tears as David gave him a hug.
"It's his hero. David Beckham just showed his face round the corner of the booth and said, 'Can I jump in?" Elaine explained afterwards. "My son started crying and it made me start crying too. It was absolutely amazing."
David shocked another 60 members of the public who wanted to have their picture taken ahead of the start of the London Olympic Games this week.
The Los Angeles Galaxy star was thrilled to meet so many fans.
"It was a unique experience for me and the people who took part and there were some great reactions when we surprised them in the photo booth," he smiled. "I always love coming back to London and the activity was a great opportunity for me to get involved in the Adidas Take The Stage campaign and get behind Team GB."
After posing with David, the lucky fans also asked him some questions about his life and career.
