Mario Gotze may be serious about making his Bayern Munich comeback, but the German playmaker is also apparently happy to be a bit of a Joker.

Gotze has not played for Bayern since October, when he picked up a groin injury, but has recently returned to training with the Bundesliga champions.

He is believed to be nearing his first-team return, after a frustrating season that has seen him play just 11 matches for his club.

And the 23-year-old seems to be enjoying himself again after his time off the pitch, dressing up as the Batman super-villain the Joker this week.

Gotze posted a picture to Instagram showing his face made up like the character, as popularised by Heath Ledger in The Dark Night film of 2008.

The World Cup winner captioned his post with the words ’#joker #partofmario’.

One player notably missing from the group was United goalkeeper David De Gea, who had been locked into the United training ground for several hours while the football anti-doping agency carried out their tests at Carrington.

Stars Ander Herrera and Juan Mata had a chat with patient Amelie, 10, and her sister Fleur, 12, from Salford.
