Takeshi Matsuda Biography
Matsuda competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, finishing eighth in the 400 meter freestyle in Athens and winning a bronze medal in Beijing in the 200 meter butterfly in a time of 1:52.97 - an Asian record. He became the third swimmer in history to swim the short course 200m fly in under 1:50, finishing in 1:49.50 at the 2011 FINA World Cup. Matsuda secured his third Olympic berth by winning the 200m freestyle and the 200m fly at the Japan Swim in April. That performance moved him to third in the world this season, behind only Yannick Agnel and Michael Phelps. Matsuda also won two silver medals and one bronze at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships.
