Zachary Bell Biography

Likely Canada's best hope to win any cycling medal in London, Bell is a solid rider who is poised to better his performance from the 2008 Summer Games. In Beijing, Bell finished seventh in the points race and 12th in the madison _ neither event which is still on the Olympic program. However, Bell - who was crowned the 2011 World Cup champion - certainly earned some confidence after winning a silver in the six-event omnium at the 2012 track world championships. "I'm thinking down the road (to the Olympics)," said Bell, who also won silver in the omnium at the 2009 worlds. He won bronze at a test event on the Olympic track in London in early 2012 and has now recorded 23 career victories, including the under-23 Canadian national championship in 2004. Bell’s biggest strength could be his versatility, which comes from his background as both a sprint racer and competitor in endurance events.
