Rather unsurprisingly, Manchester City's 3-2 defeat at the hands Real Madrid on Tuesday evening, has been the hot-topic on Twitter for the last 24 hours.
Several City players took to the social networking website to express their disappointment at the loss, alongside the club's football development executive Patrick Vieira.
However, as is typical of modern footballers, not all the chat has centred on an actual game taking place. Catch the rest of the nonsense in this edition of Word on the Tweet...
"What a shame, we were so close! I truly hope we'll learn from this defeat. Many thanks to our supporters, you were great!"
Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko thanks City's travelling contingent after their side crumbled in front of their eyes in Madrid.
"Thanks to the huge number of travelling fans. This game will give us the desire to improve again. Eventually we will get there.#MCFC"
Skipper Vincent Kompany was next to offer his appreciation to the supporters, before indicating the late collapse will drive them forward.
"I know how disappointed the team are tonight, but overall they can be really proud for genuinely challenging Real Madrid. #realvcity
"This type of game can only make City better. It's important to take the positives from it-they are in a good position for the rest of comp"
Patrick Vieira again avoids the elephant in the room, the fact that City lost, by stating the hard-fought defeat will be a learning curve.
"Phones off on plain 2 switzerland"
Liverpool teen Raheem Sterling abides by the rules by switching off his mobile ahead of the Reds' clash with some other Young Boys. I bet he still claps when the plane lands.
"Early start off to Istanbul. That's in Turkey (not the Bernard Matthews variety). Eurasia for the dull amongst us..."
WOTT regular Joey Barton is also preparing for a Europa League trip. He's off to face Fenerbahce with new club Marseille and just couldn't refuse a terrible pun. Oh Joey.
"Thank you BCFC fans for warm reception. So glad i get to see some old friends. Good game from Bolton but not the result we were hoping for."
Fabrice Muamba, who received rapturous applause when attending the Bolton v Birmingham Championship clash on Tuesday, in which his old club beat his current one 2-1.
"Beastly session in the gym. I feel I'm on the verge of a comeback. Like the old days... Pace, power, precision and poo!"
TV pundit Gary Lineker thinks he is the answer to England's striker shortage, before reminiscing far too vividly about that night in Italia 90 against Ireland.
"Love a bit of jungle junction and jake and the neverland pirates in the
morning!! #disneyjunior"
Fraizer Campbell spends his day off becoming a five-year-old child again.
"Day off today. Time to recharge the batteries... Driving range, gym then kids time. Have a nice day"
Sylvain Distin, however, is much more grown-up as he opts for a spot of golf amongst other manly activities.
"Laaaavly day today, spot of lunch at bills & a little browse around the shops! Maybe go and see Total Recall?!"
Finally, Reading midfielder Jem Karacan forgets about the club's worrying lack of points and weighs up his options for the day.
