Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has confirmed that he is staying at the club despite speculation linking him with a move from White Hart Lane.

The Dutchman was rumoured to be interesting clubs from around Europe with several Bundesliga sides such as Schalke reportedly paying particular attention to his situation.

However, despite the departure of Harry Redknapp, the 29-year-old has reiterated his desire to stay at Spurs and insists he is enjoying life in London.

He told reporters: "Yeah I am [staying at Tottenham. That's always a question to ask, [because] in football you never know, but yeah I want to stay and I'm happy here."

Van der Vaart is not the only player to have been linked with an exit from the club this summer, with the future of Luka Modric still in doubt as Real Madrid continue to chase the Croatian playmaker.

Spurs are currently on a pre-season tour of the United States and face the Los Angeles Galaxy in their opening fixture in California on Wednesday.
