Sunderland run without league win hits double figures

February 01, 2010 02:27 PM

LONDON - Sunderland and Stoke City played out a 0-0 stalemate on Monday which extended the home side's run without a Premier League win to 10 matches.

Both clubs signed players on the last day of the transfer window but if Sunderland's new defender Alan Hutton or Stoke's new keeper Asmir Begovic were among the 35,000 crowd at the Stadium of Light, they would not have been too impressed by what they saw.

Despite plenty of effort, there was little end product and the teams were booed off at the end, finishing the night in the league positions they started it in: Sunderland remaining 13th and Stoke 12th.
