Sloppy Poulter blows big lead in Singapore
SINGAPORE - Ian Poulter dropped four shots in six holes to slip back into a three-way tie for the lead at the rain-hit Singapore Open on Saturday as a third weather delay in as many days ended play early midway through the third round. As dark clouds loomed ominously over the Serapong Course, officials called the players in for their own safety just minutes after Briton Poulter had bogeyed the sixth to join Frenchman Thomas Levet and Japan's Kodai Ichihara on eight-under par.
Venus sets up Doha final showdown with Serena
DOHA - Defending champion Venus Williams completed her circuitous route to the final of the WTA Championships Saturday, beating Jelena Jankovic 5-7 6-3 6-4. The weary-looking American will face sister Serena, who won the second semi-final against Caroline Wozniacki after the Dane pulled out with a stomach injury while trailing 6-4 0-1.

LYON, France - Gilles Simon's hopes of securing a spot in the World Tour Finals suffered a setback when he was defeated 6-7 6-3 7-6 by fellow Frenchman Michael Llodra in the semi-finals of the Lyon Grand Prix on Saturday. The world number 12 lost control in the second set after his opponent broke in the fourth game.

Qualifier knocks Safin out of St Petersburg Open
ST PETERSBURG - Qualifier Sergiy Stakhovsky sent Marat Safin to the brink of retirement when he beat the former world number one 6-4 4-6 6-4 in the St Petersburg Open semi-finals on Saturday. Safin, playing in his penultimate tournament before retiring, had a break point for a 5-4 lead in the final set but the 93rd-ranked Ukrainian was able to hold before breaking the Russian to seal a place in his second final.
Arsenal ease to 3-0 derby win over Spurs
LONDON - A quick-fire double set Arsenal on their way to a comfortable 3-0 Premier League victory over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur Saturday. A close first half was transformed minutes before the break when Robin van Persie met Bacary Sagna's low cross for Arsenal's first goal before Spaniard Cesc Fabregas scored a brilliant second moments later.
