Fernando Torres is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Spain manager Vicente del Bosque after being selected in the 23-man squad heading to Euro 2012.
After a poor run of form with Chelsea, and being omitted from the squad to face Venezuela in February, it was looking likely that the striker would miss the tournament.
However, after record goalscorer David Villa failed to recover from a broken tibia sustained late last year, Torres was given the nod and the 28-year-old admitted he is a relieved man.

"I was left out of the squad [against Venezuela] and that was tough," Torres told reporters.
"I started to understand that things were serious, that I wasn't getting much playing time with my club and that if things carried on that way I wouldn't be going to Euro 2012.
"Vicente has put his faith in me and now I need to show him I am ready to play whenever he thinks it necessary. I hope to be able to give the team the best of me."
Despite failing to impress consistently at Stamford Bridge, Torres has a stellar record on the international scene, having netted 27 times in 91 appearances for his country.
However, he has scored just once in a Spain shirt since 2010, but the striker has revealed that the possibility of missing out has made him even more enthusiastic.
"When you see yourself missing out and then you are selected you are more excited even than the first day," Torres added.
"I have arrived feeling fresh because I haven't had the same physical burden as the others and I am in good shape.
"I would have liked to have played more for my club but the important thing is that everything works out in the end."
