Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted the club has "nothing to report" and is not currently busy in the transfer market.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha but Sir Alex told reporters at his press conference on Friday that he has no news regarding any impending deals.

He said: “There's nothing to report! It's January, what can I say? I know you're desperate for a story but there's no story. I've got nothing to tell you."

Despite preferring to do his transfer dealings in the summer, the Old Trafford boss has used the window to buy young players before having bought current defenders Rafael and Chris Smalling in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Arsenal are also keen on Zaha, and prepared a £12 million bid before the January window, as revealed by Goal.com, but Ian Holloway revealed on Thursday he would like to see the England international return to Selhurst Park on loan if sold this month.
