Sacchi believes Guardiola should stay at Barcelona and Mourinho will stay at Real Madrid

Former Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi has advised Pep Guardiola to remain in his role at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.

The 41-year-old has been linked with a summer departure from Catalunya as his contract expires in the summer, but the man who led AC Milan to arguably their most successful spell in history thinks the Santpedor-born trainer should stick with his current employers.

"I left Milan because after four years I became drained and exhausted," Sacchi told COM Radio. "Guardiola must decide for himself, but the best motivation is always found at home.

"Barca is his country, his history, his natural environment. The best thing for him is to stay there."

Sacchi also added that Guardiola should not make a jump to Italy in his managerial career, as he does not believe his coaching methods would be effective on the peninsula.

"Italy is the last country he should go, as they are not used to playing the touch-and-go style," he continued.

"In addition, clubs are always in a hurry and there is no long-term planning."

Sacchi then gave his take on the possible destination of Jose Mourinho, who has also seen his future come under scrutiny of late, and is adamant the Portuguese will still hold his position as coach of Real Madrid next term.

"There will always be people who want a lot [in life] and people who do not, but [Mourinho] is an extraordinary character.

"He left Italy because he needed to find new motivation, but I think next year he will still be in Madrid," Sacchi concluded.
