Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has admitted that the club are currently considering a bid from Liverpool for forward Fabio Borini.

As confirmed by Goal.com, the Reds are currently in advanced talks with the Giallorossi over an €8 million deal for the Italy international, who only arrived at the Stadio Olimpico last summer, initially on loan from Parma.

It has been speculated that the proposed transfer could go through before the end of week but Sabatini explained that Roma have yet to make a decision on the forward's future.

"There is real interest in the player," he told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday. "We are evaluating the offer with [general manager Franco] Baldini."

Sabatini went on to admit that Roma are giving serious thought to parting company with the player, who netted nine times in 24 Serie A appearances last season.

"It's an option that we have," the 57-year-old mused. "We'll see how we work it."

Borini, who was included in the Azzurri's Euro 2012 squad, spent four years at Chelsea but joined Parma last summer after a successful loan spell at Swansea, where he worked under new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
