Aaron Ramsey has revealed Team GB's medallists at the Olympic Games are inspiring the football team to their own success.

Great Britain secured three more gold medals on Thursday and Ramsey admitted that cycling time trial champion Bradley Wiggin, who finished first on Wednesday, was a source of inspiration for the squad.

He told reporters: "I absolutely agree, I get a buzz out of watching a person like him winning a gold and what he has achieved so far.

"We’re going about our business quietly we’re getting stronger as the tournament goes on. Before we met up we'd never played together before and we’ve come so far since then, there’s a good team spirit here and I believe we're getting stronger each game."

Ramsey is keen for the football side to grab a medal and continue Team GB's recent successes, and is also happy to have had the opportunity to mingle with other athletes throughout the games.

"We’ve been watching a few events on the telly at night when we’re resting and it’s been interesting seeing the other athletes compete," added Ramsey.

"When we were in the village before the Wembley game we got the opportunity to speak to a few athletes and get their ideas on how they train and prepare for things, we’ve had a good past few days in the medals and I’m sure there will be a lot more to come."

The Arsenal midfielder claimed that winning gold would be one of the top achievements in his career and that the side would be going all out to secure victory.

"It will certainly be up there," agreed Ramsey. "We’re going to try really hard to achieve that’s what we’re here for to try and get a medal for ourselves and for the country."
