Singapore was drawn in Group A alongside Jordan, Syria and Oman for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. The top two teams in the group and the third best placing team will progress to the tournament proper in 2015.

Singapore will kick start their campaign with an away day in Jordan on February 6 before hosting Oman a month later.

Head coach for the Singapore National Team, Radojko Avramovic commented on the draw: “I think we have been drawn into a very strong group together with Jordan, Syria and Oman.”

“This is a very competitive group and it will not be easy. This is not the first time we will be meeting Jordan. We know how they play and we know how good the team is.

“Syria, in my opinion, is almost similar to Jordan in terms of how they play and their footballing style. Both teams are very technical and strong.”

“I think the team that is able to surprise everyone is Oman. They have been improving a lot for the past few years, and they are also a team to look out for. We are not in an easy group. These are quality sides and getting past them for the group stages will not be a breeze.”

Raddy had taken Singapore to a brink of qualification during the previous qualifiers, but a loss on the final match day against Jordan in Amman meant disappointment for the Lions.

The Serbian’s contract runs-out at the end of the year and it is still uncertain as to whether he will be at the helm by the turn of the year to lead the team for the qualifiers.
