In the midst of his Atletico Madrid trial, Teerasil Dangda has recently received encouragement from one of his biggest supporters.

Father Prasit Dangda on Monday revealed details of the conversation, which took place through the efforts of the player's younger sister, Thaneekan.

"Mai (Thaneekan Dangda) just arrange a Facetime call to him for me," the elder Dangda told Thai media. "I was surprised at first glance because Mui [Teerasil] looked very happy and was smiling.

"He told me that he can focus on football there. He's a very solitary person, so playing football [itself] is enough to make him happy."

Originally scheduled to spend two weeks in Madrid, Dangda's trial has since been extended to a full month after club staff wanted a closer look at the AFF Suzuki Cup's top scorer. But although the Muangthong United striker has his eyes on European stardom, his father hopes to keep his son rooted.

"He's concentrating hard," Prasit continued. "He's facing new training methods and discovering his mistakes; it can only improve him as a footballer

"I also reiterated to him that he was born in the year of dragon. So whatever happens, wherever he is, he must remain the same dragon or become a better one."
