Lukas Podolski has revealed his happiness at making his 100th appearance for Germany in the 2-1 win over Denmark as he became the youngest ever European to reach such tally for his country.
The 27-year-old forward marked his special occasion with a well-taken goal against Morten Olsen's men as the DFB Eleven finished top of Group B with a perfect record of three wins in three games.
Speaking to ARD immediately following the win, Podolski looked back on a memorable and historic night: "The 100th game was something special, and the fact that I scored with my right foot makes it even better," the left-footed striker noted.
However, Podolski says that the truly important thing was not his goal or the record but his team's success.
"The most important thing was that we made it into the next round. It was a hard-fought match."
Before today's match Podolski had scored just once in his last 16 matches for his country, having failed to find the net in his last eight appearances for Germany.
