Stoke City striker Michael Owen was involved in another 'Twitter war' with British broadcaster and Arsenal fanatic Piers Morgan over the crossing ability of David Beckham. The former England skipper's move to Paris Saint-Germain on the final day of the January transfer window was scrutinized by Morgan.

"Anyone (like @benwinston) who thinks PSG have signed Beckham for football reasons is barking up the wrong arbre. #LeShirtSeller" Morgan declared on the social networking site. He went on to name Luis Figo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo as three players who can cross the ball better than Beckham.

This is where Owen couldn't restrain himself and immediately intervened tweeting, "Are you taking the ****? In one answer you have shown the world how little you about football. None of them are better [than Beckham]." Morgan responded, "pipe down Benchwarmer - I know enough to realise you should be spending more time with your horses.."

Owen then tweeted, "I can't get over your statement. The last thing any of them players you mentioned are renown for is crossing #clueless". "Stop changing the subject, Chubby. Explain how the Figo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo had crossed over Better than Beckham?," Owen pressed to which Morgan replied, "Mate, they're the three of the best crossers throughout history ... sorry had to teach you about your own sport."

Having played with or against the players mentioned, Owen wasn't about to back down and wrote, "I'm sorry to have to disappoint you, but you are wrong. I have played with or against all of them. Stick to tweeting about what you know #hackedoff".

Morgan ended with a hilarious albeit irrelevant joke, probably to divert attention from his own mistake by tweeting, "Your jokes are like your goals now - only come once a year, but real crackers." Owen would do well to take the positives out of that - Morgan still thinks he scores cracking goals!
