Spanish second tier club Villarreal on Wednesday announced an agreement with AC Milan that will see Colombian international defender Cristian Zapata move to the Italian giants on a season-long loan.

The Colombian defender, 25, will return to Serie A after leaving Udinese for the Yellow Submarine last summer.

The 15-times capped defender moved to Villarreal on a five-year deal for a reported 8.5 million euros ($10.5m).

Milan have an option to sign Zapata permanently next summer for a fee between five and six million euros.
