Lippi: Conte should ignore Tottenham and focus on a new cycle of success with Juventus

Former Juventus coach Marcelo Lippi has advised current boss Antonio Conte to ignore the rumoured interest of Tottenham Hotspur in his services and instead focus his attention on starting a new cycle of success with the Bianconeri, arguing that there is no better club to be at.

Conte has overseen a remarkable transformation in the Bianconeri's fortunes since arriving in Turin last summer, turning a side which has finished seventh for the past two seasons into Scudetto challengers.

The former Juve midfielder is now being linked with Tottenham, with the Premier League outfit's current boss, Harry Redknapp, expected by some to take charge of England at the end of the season, but Lippi feels Conte would be well advised to finish what he has started with the Old Lady.

"I'm not surprised by Tottenham sounding out Conte as there is always great interest in emerging coaches," he told Tuttosport.

"I myself received many important offers but when you see the possibility of opening a new cycle of success with Juventus, you cannot find anything better."

The former Bianconeri coach also admitted that he would like to see Alessandro Del Piero stay in Turin but he is far less certain that this will happen.

The legendary trequartista is out of contract at the end of the season and is reportedly considering offers from Asia and the United States.

"I do not know if he will finish his career with Juventus," Lippi admitted. "But I am sure that he will continue to play."

Conte's Juve will be hoping to reduce their gap to Serie leaders AC Milan to just two points when they tackle Napoli in Turin on Sunday night.
