(Reuters) - Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2017, City said on Saturday. The 24-year-old Argentina international scored 12 goals in 30 league appearances last season, and netted the winning goal against Queens Park Rangers that secured them the 2011-12 title. "I'm very happy at City and I feel very appreciated," he told the club's website (www.mcfc.co.uk) recently. "It's been barely two years

West Ham winger Matt Jarvis has set his sights on forcing his way back into England contention after recovering from injury.

A hamstring problem has limited Jarvis to just two appearances in the Hammers' first five games of the season, with only one of those coming as a start.

The former Wolves wideman's one and only England cap came in a friendly against Ghana last year under then manager Fabio Capello, but he hopes to become a regular fixture in the future.

"You have to play well for your club and play regularly to be called up for your country and that is exactly what I want to do," he told the club's official website.

"The squad we have is very strong and everyone is fighting for a place in the starting eleven. I am no different and I need to prove myself if I want to be starting week in, week out.

"Unfortunately I picked up a slight thigh injury in training, which has forced me to miss the last couple of weeks, but I am fully recovered now and I am delighted to be back in the squad and back on the pitch."

Despite mostly being forced to watch on from the sidelines, the £10.75m man has been buoyed by West Ham’s positive start to the season.

"I think the manager has got exactly what he wanted with us having a good start and hopefully we can keep the run going this weekend," Jarvis added.

"We had plenty of chances against Norwich and maybe we should have put one of ours away.

"It would have been nice to get the win but it was very hot, which took it out of everyone involved.

"There were a lot of chances for both sides but it didn't fall right for either one. Overall I was just pleased to be involved in the game and happy to be back."
