Roy Hodgson has revealed John Terry requires a scan on a minor hamstring injury sustained in England's 1-0 victory over Belgium.

Terry saw his club-mate Gary Cahill leave the field following a collision with goalkeeper Joe Hart and had to leave the field himself on the 70th minute as a hamstring problem flared up.

Hodgson told reporters at Wembley: “As far as John's concerned, he felt his hamstring a little bit.

“Again, it wasn't a major thing when he came off but we still need to scan it just to be 100 per cent sure.

“He felt a tightening of the muscle, it happens when there’s fatigue.”

The friendly allowed Hodgson to get a closer look at his squad ahead of their June 11 European Championship opener with France.

The predicted central midfield of Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker benefited from a lengthy run-out at Wembley on Saturday evening and Hodgson reflected on encouraging displays as both players build fitness ahead of Poland and Ukraine.

He added: “Steven Gerrard had cramp and Danny Welbeck has been on antibiotics for a while. That can affect his stomach.

“Scott needs games and training.

“He got through the 90 minutes. He obviously isn’t at his sharpest but that will come with the work we can do in training and the games.

“It would be much better for us with one or two of our players if the tournament was starting three weeks on Monday.”
