Zlatan Ibrahimovic pledged his future to AC Milan in the aftermath of the club's failure to retain their Serie A title, but admitted that he is seeking assurances over the club's promise to significantly strengthen the squad over the summer.
The Rossoneri went down 4-2 to Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday night to hand the Scudetto to Juventus, who eased past Cagliari 2-0 in Trieste.
However, in spite of his obvious disappointment at missing out on a domestic league title for the first time in eight years, Ibrahimovic insists that he will stay at San Siro - provided the club's ambition continues to match his own.
"I still have two years left of my contract and I will respect and honor it," the Sweden international told Aftonbladet.
"I'm sorry not to have won the Scudetto in statistically my best year to date. I am not used to winning nothing. It's the first time that it's happened to me.
"Milan have promised me an even more competitive squad for next season, so I'll wait to see what happens.
"I have no doubts about my future. The question is whether the club has any doubts about this whole project. It’s the club that must tell their plans to the squad and to us players individually.
"But I feel very happy here at Milan and I want to continue to play and win here."
Ibrahimovic also voiced his support for coach Massimiliano Allegri, who, it has been claimed, is under pressure after failing to retain the Scudetto.
"I believe that he has the faith and the trust from the players," the 30-year-old forward stated.
Ibrahimovic has contributed 35 goals in 42 games in all competitions for the Rossoneri this season.
