Walter Gargano has revealed that as a child he picked Inter as his default team on the PlayStation - and always played against Juventus.
Speaking in his first press conference as a Nerazzurri player, the new recruit endeared himself to his new fans, and credited former employers Napoli.
"I had some great years at Napoli where I gained experience, but now I am at the most important club in the world," he beamed.
"Inter are well followed in Uruguay and it was a dream of mine as a child to wear this shirt.
"As a kid, I always played as Inter on the PlayStation - and I always played against Juventus.
Gargano then went on to claim that Inter have the necessary tools in their armoury to not only challenge Juventus for the Serie A title, but to also launch an assault on all trophy fronts.
"I think we’re at the same level as Juventus, perhaps higher, and they are the reigning Italian champions," he added.
"I think we can vie for all three competitions."
The 28-year-old made his Inter debut in Sunday's emphatic 3-0 opening-day victory over Pescara, and he revealed coach Andrea Stramaccioni had personally requested his services to the club's hierarchy.
"I’ll play where the coach wants me to play," he vowed. "He really wanted me at this club and I want to demonstrate that I know how to play for a team like Inter."
"All of my new team-mates have been splendid, they’ve all welcomed me. I've been made to feel at home, especially by the South Americans."
