Radamel Falcao has expressed his delight with Atletico Madrid's 4-1 win over Chelsea in the European Super Cup, while conceding he had imagined scoring in the showpiece event.

The Colombian hit three first-half goals against the Blues on Friday, setting the tone for an ultimately comprehensive Rojiblancos victory at Stade Louis II in Monaco.

Speaking to the media following the triumph, the Santa Marta native admitted getting on the scoresheet was something he had dreamt of.

"I dreamt of being able to score and I had that opportunity," said Falcao.

After exclusively revealing to Goal.com that he has no intention of leaving the La Liga outfit, the Vicente Calderon idol now believes Atletico can compete on the European stage this season.

"We are happy," he added. "I do not know what will happen tomorrow in my life but this team has a lot of passion and we are improving on the international stage."

Atletico will return to domestic action when they travel to Real Betis on Monday.
