Tottenham have had a bid accepted for Moussa Dembele after meeting his £15 million buyout clause, with the player now having a medical at White Hart Lane, Fulham have confirmed.

Goal.com exclusively revealed on Monday that Andre Villas-Boas' side had edged ahead of Manchester United for the Cottagers midfielder's signature as both teams made enquiries.

The Belgium international was left out of the Cottagers' 1-0 League Cup defeat against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, with a statement released afterwards on the club's official website.

The statement read: "Martin Jol confirmed post-match that the club has accepted a bid for Mousa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur.

"The player is currently undergoing a medical."

Goal.com first revealed Spurs' interest in May, with Liverpool and Arsenal also prepared to enter the race for his signature. They were followed by United, Manchester City and Chelsea in targeting the midfielder later that month.

Dembele admitted on Sunday that "I want to go to the top" as several Premier League clubs eyed him up, having drawn attention with an impressive display in a losing cause against the Red Devils on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, signed from AZ in 2010, confirmed earlier in August that Spanish giants Real Madrid had made contact with his agent over the possibility of a move, though Jose Mourinho has since signed Luka Modric from Tottenham.
