Younes Belhanda has revealed that he will be staying at Montpellier for at least one more year, despite constant speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was part of the Paillade team that won Ligue 1 last term, and has since been associated with a transfer to the likes of Manchester City.
Montpellier's other star player in their championship-winning season Olivier Giroud has already completed his switch to Arsenal, but Belhanda has now put to rest any uncertainty about his immediate future.
"I want to share with you my decision to continue my adventure at Montpellier this season," he told fans on his official Facebook page.
"As I've already said, I really want to play in the Champions League with the club that gave me my first chance and I am very happy to wear the jersey this season!"
The Morocco international went on to confirm that he will not be be taking part in this summer's Olympic Games as he looks to build up fitness and recover from an injury.
"After talking with the Moroccan Federation and the coach, I am announcing my withdrawal from the Olympics," he explained.
"As you know, I was injured in the game against Gambia. The injury has not healed yet, and I have not completed my rehabilitation.
"Our country deserves players at 100 per cent, and that's the only reason I will not be in London this summer."
