Spanish football's Competition Committee have slapped Barcelona striker David Villa with a fine for revealing a message to his wife and daughter on a t-shirt during Sunday's 5-1 defeat of Real Sociedad in La Liga.

The attacker broke his tibia during the Club World Cup last December, and celebrated his long-awaited return to competitive action by arriving as a second-half sub to score a superb goal in the rout of the Basque side.

After finding the net, the Asturian-born frontman removed his jersey to reveal the phrase 'Imposible Sin Vosotras' - 'Impossible without you', accompanied by a picture of his family.

The Spain international's emotional message has however infringed on RFEF statutes, which state that removing a jersey to display advertising or any slogan is considered an offence, and the 30-year-old has been punished accordingly.

The size of the fine has been set at between 2,000 and 3,000 Euros.
