Argentine Herrera joins Montpellier

Editors' Picks

French champions Montpellier have snapped up Argentine striker Emanuel Herrera on a three-year deal, the club revealed Saturday.

Nicknamed El Tanque or El Torpedo (the tank or the torpedo), Herrera scored five times in eight matches for Union Espanola as the Chilean side reached the last 16 of this year's Copa Libertadores.

The 25-year-old also finished as the joint-leading scorer in the recently finished Chilean Apertura after tallying 11 goals in 21 appearances.

The Rosario native becomes the fourth new recruit at the Stade de la Mosson following the arrivals of Gaetan Charbonnier, Daniel Congre and Anthony Mounier.
