Alvaro Arbeloa is hoping to see Real Madrid break the 100-point barrier in La Liga this season, and wished team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo luck as the Portuguese aims to net his 50th league goal this term.
Sunday's 3-0 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu not only moved Los Blancos to within one victory of their first Primera Division title since 2008, but it also took them to 91 points after 35 rounds of action.
In addition, Ronaldo racked up his 43rd Primera Division goal of the season during the game in the Spanish capital.
"The most important thing is to win the league but it would be great if Cristiano reaches the 50-goal mark and we reach a total of 100 points," Arbeloa told Real Madrid's official website.
The defender did admit that the players are beginning to feel the strain of what has been a gruelling campaign, but insisted that Los Blancos' hunger for success drives them forward.
"We are tired because April has been very demanding and we've played many games, but we're happy for being so close to winning such an important title," the full-back explained. "We're happy to give the fans a chance to celebrate.
"We've had a near-perfect run in La Liga, with only a few mistakes in the last month. We've been consistent and we'll deserve to win the title."
Real Madrid return to league action on Wednesday when they face Athletic Bilbao, with the kick-off scheduled for 22.00CET.
Starting last month and continuing for 10 weeks, Goal.com is publishing exclusive extracts from Luca Caioli's new book, Ronaldo: The Obsession for Perfection. The sixth extract, published on Friday, looks at his display for Man Utd in the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow, including the Portuguese's missed penalty in the shoot-out.
