(Reuters) - England international striker Andy Carroll has completed a permanent switch from Liverpool to West Ham on a six-year deal and for a club record fee, the Premier League side announced on Wednesday. Massimo Ambrosini has stressed that leaving AC Milan in the summer transfer window was never an option for him.

Experienced players such as Gianluca Zambrotta, Alessandro Nesta, Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi all departed the Rossoneri after the 2011-12 campaign, but Ambrosini did not consider saying farewell to the San Siro side as well.

"Leaving the club never entered my head," the 35-year-old was quoted as saying by Forza Milan.

"In fact it was my heart that ruled my head, even though I knew it would be somewhat of a different season ahead.

"I knew we would have difficulties but what makes life so wonderful is dealing with problems.

"The structure within the club promotes a sense of belonging. I cannot say what it is like at other clubs, but all I know is that everyone who has played here has said that there is a family atmosphere.

"All I can say is that as a club Milan are very well organised in every area."

Ambrosini has a contract with the Serie A giants until June 2013.
