The 45-year-old coach says that the 1-1 draw against Manchester City earlier this season gave his side the belief that they could compete with Europe's finest teams

After being encouraged by Ajax Amsterdam's U15 coach Michel Kreek to head to Europe, Adam Swandi will get his chance earlier than expected.

The Singapore U16 captain was selected together with Amer Nazri from the Singapore U15 side for a training stint at the Ajax youth academy.

Both players had been selected as the Most Valuable Players for their respective teams by a panel comprising of coaches from the participating teams at the 24th Canon Lion City Cup as well as the media and the organising committee.

The date and specific time frame for their trip to Ajax has yet to be confirmed, pending agreements on schedules from both Ajax and the Football Association of Singapore.
