It has been an interesting week for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Following confirmation that Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, the 27-year-old striker has also been linked to an exit from Old Trafford.

He held "showdown talks" with the club two weeks ago, where he reportedly told Ferguson that he wanted a "fresh start" at another club. However, Rooney was told that his wish would not be granted and that he still had a future at United.

On Wednesday night a United spokesperson said: "Wayne Rooney is not for sale."

With all the rumours surrounding his future, perhaps it was fitting that Rooney chose to spend Tuesday night rocking out to a Beyonce concert with his wife Coleen instead.

The striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer, announced that he will be expecting his first child with his wife, Argentinean singer Lorelai Taron.

Falcao promptly dedicated his goal to his wife by sticking his thumb into his mouth, which is a popular goal celebration in Latin America for footballers who are expecting a child.

"I'm very excited and happy at the news. Thankfully, it will come at this time. My life has been transformed and (I will now) take up a new responsibility as a father," said the 27-year-old.
