Singapore's Gu Juan's Olympic journey has come to an end after she lost in straight sets to Chinese Taipei's Cheng Shao-chieh Wednesday in the round of 16 match on Wednesday.
Gu fought hard against the world No. 11 but eventually lost the first set 18-21.
Cheng stepped up a gear against Gu in the second set, winning it easily by 21-10.
With her defeat, the world No. 17 Gu followed Singapore's top male shuttler Derek Wong and women's doubles pair Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei through the exit door.
