A day after she failed to advance to the final of the 100m butterfly, Singapore's Tao Li was back in the pool again, this time in the 100m backstroke event.
Swimming in Lane 8, Tao clocked a personal best of 1:01.60 seconds to win Heat 2. But her time was not quick enough to win a place in the evening's semi-finals.
Leading the pack of the best 16 female swimmers in the event is Australia's Emily Seebohm, who clocked an Olympic record of 58.23s.
The result means Tao's Olympic adventure has ended. At the last Games in Beijing, she came in fifth in the final of the 100m butterfly.
In the women's 400m freestyle event, Singapore's Lynette Lim failed to advance from her heat, after clocking 4:18.64s.Read More »from Tao Li’s Olympic adventure ends after she fails to make 100m backstroke semi-final
