Bolt clocks blistering 9.76 100m at Jamaica International

Usain Bolt posted a world leading time of 9.76sec - second fastest time in history - to win the 100m Saturday at the Jamaica International Invitation athletics meeting.

Jamaica's Bolt, who was sent to his marks three times in a race that saw two false starts, led from start to finish to beat American Darvis Patton, who was second in 10.08sec. Antiguan Daniel Bailey was third in 10.12.

Wallace Spearmon, the World Championships silver medallist, settled for fifth.

Bolt, who had a 1.8 m/sec wind, inside the legal limit of 2.0m/sec, admitted he was a bit shocked by the time.

"I was definitely surprised when I saw the time," said Bolt, who was hoping to run more along the lines of 9.85.

Asked if the performance meant he was closing in on compatriot Asafa Powell's world record of 9.74, Bolt replied: "You never know, you never know".
